Hal Robson-Kanu: Ex-Wales Forward Retires from Football

Former West Brom and Wales striker Thomas Henry Alex Hal Robson-Kanu has announced his retirement from football at the age of 34.

Robson-Kanu, who scored the winner for Wales against Belgium at Euro 2016, had been without a club since leaving West Brom at the end of last season.

He made the announcement on social media, saying: "After 16 years of playing professional football, I have decided to hang up my boots. It has been an incredible journey, and I have been fortunate to have had some amazing experiences along the way."

Robson-Kanu began his career with Arsenal, but he did not make a first-team appearance for the Gunners. He had loan spells at Southend United, Swindon Town and Bristol City before joining Reading in 2007.

He spent six years at Reading, making over 200 appearances and scoring 30 goals. He helped the club win the Championship play-offs in 2012 and reach the FA Cup semi-final in 2015.

Robson-Kanu joined West Brom in 2016 and spent four years at the Hawthorns. He scored 22 goals in 110 appearances for the Baggies and helped them win promotion to the Premier League in 2018.

He made 46 appearances for Wales and scored five goals. He was part of the Wales squad that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

Robson-Kanu's retirement marks the end of an era for Wales. He was one of the last remaining members of the team that reached the semi-finals of Euro 2016.

He will be remembered as one of the most popular players in Welsh football history. He was a talented forward who always gave 100% on the pitch.
